About This Station

AcuRite Iris 5-in-1 PWS

Elevation 65m/212ft • Mount: Mast

Close to Vancouver, this station is located at the mouth of Howe Sound 212 feet above the western shore of Bowen Island. The station sits among coniferous trees within a west coast rain forest containing a wide variety of trees and vegetation. Although the island is known for its wooded area's, many homes are scattered throughout the area, though it is often difficult to spot them given the density of growth. The terrain at the station is steep, the slope forming the SW base of Mount Gardner. The contour of the land shelters the station from prevailing winds altering their direction to a westerly or north-south tendency. A secluded Crayola Beach is below the station. Keats Island can be seen across the pass.
